Matthew 9:  2-8 The Healing of the Paralytic

This healing narrative has much to say about the people’s faith. They are the ones who carry this man to Jesus, who, seeing their faith, proceeds to heal. Will we, in faith, take others to Jesus today?

But first, before having the paralyzed man get up and walk, Jesus offers him forgiveness. What’s the big deal?

Knowing the hard heartedness of those who will not make the link between forgiveness and healing, he demonstrates the unbreakable link as in one go, he heals and forgives.

Verse 8 reads, “ When the crowds saw it, they were filled with awe, and they glorified God, who had given such authority to human beings.”

Indeed, the authority to FORGIVE and its link to healing, is God’s gift to us all.

Help us, O Lord, to make forgivenessour priority, for your sake. Amen.

UNFORGIVENESS IS PARALYSIS ( Matthew 9:2-8)

Take heart, you’re clean
From sin within.
Thinking evil of him
They blaspheme
He cannot forgive sin.

Authority speaks
Paralysis breaks
To get up
And walk
To stand up
And talk.

Easier to forgive
Or to heal?
To forgive is
God given authority
Power to heal.
