Sometimes, just because God blesses you, you will also need God’s deliverance from those who are offended by your blessings.

In the situation, David’s problem was that he had been blessed, named as a successor to Saul while the latter was still on the throne. In his understanding he was still king, a king picked from a farming family; and in his understanding, God had no right to pick another king.

The would-be deposed king had power and could use it to get rid of his would-be successor. Simple as that. Cunning as David was to even be hiding among the offended king’s party, it would not be long before he would be found out. Small wonder the Ziphites went to the king, 1 “David is hiding among us”.

And a smart guy David was. He prayed to the one who had called the king into power, and called him to replace the king. He prayed to this God, 1 “Save me, O God, by your name, and vindicate me by your might.”

Trust me, if God is the reason you’re in what seems to be a problem, God can get you out of it. Whether your complaint is that 3 “The insolent have risen against me “or “The ruthless seek my life “because “They do not set God before them”, they do not have the last say. There is a limit to their power so you can claim confidently 4 “Surely, God is my helper; the Lord is the upholder of my life.” Only if God is ready for you to go, can they force your exit.

Don’t waste effort trying to get even. Do as David would when he had the chance to make minced meat out of Saul. Let it go! Getting even can cost you your soul. At the very least, getting even is unnecessarily stressful. Let it go! Do like the psalmist and believe this from God, “vengeance is mine. I will repay.”

Sometimes, you don’t even have to make the enemy any wiser and let them know that you’re on to their schemes. You can play dumb and just pray for deliverance. It doesn’t mean that you have to be a dummy. You can fight with your wits. You can fight when the oppressor thinks that you’ve given up.. You can fight on your knees when they’re not seeing or knowing it.

You can fight with prayer. Don’t believe those who tell you it can’t work. Prayer works. Trust in God is worth it. God delivers. And like David you can know 7 “He has delivered me from every trouble, and my eye has looked in triumph on my enemies”.

Don’t believe that blessings make for a trouble-free life.  In reality, they invite troubles. But the God who blesses you, also delivers from the troubles that befall you because you are blessed.
