If 3 “you love evil more than good, and lying more than speaking the truth”, then catch up time is bound to come, because truth can be concealed for only so long.

It might not sound like justice for those whose oppressors are exposed only posthumously. I think of the Harrod’s ladies whose boss’ misdeeds were uncovered while Al-Fayed lay a moulding in the grave. But then, truth is immortal, and it will find you out even when you think you’ve had your day. It may “sully” your already dark night that you wanted to pretend was shining knight! If you play dirty and live lies, your untruth will plague the heritage you planned on leaving. Of course it’s always  better when victims become victors in your plain sight; but whenever truth unfolds, it pays dividends to those presumed to have lost, and it empowers the next generation to claim justice in their own day.

Don’t lie! Truth has a way of winning. Did not the psalmist say, 5“God will break you down forever”? Even though you might be already uprooted from the land of the living” shame becomes your posterity. Don’t lie. Your children and grandchildren don’t deserve to be harassed by your lies. Don’t revive the saying that the father ate bitter grapes to set his children’s teeth on edge.

What about the one who painfully submits to the demands of truth-telling? The liar might seem to be a winner but only for so long. The truth can claim this testimony. 8 “I am like a green olive tree in the house of God.”

And please recognise that the green , the un-ripened, has a future ahead, ripening to come and reason to 8 “trust in the steadfast love of God forever and ever”.
