Victory is worth celebrating when even the mighty, such as the king, get their support from the Almighty King.
Check out this situation: The king gets what he’s asked for- his heart’s desire and the request of his lips (verse 20).
Problems are forestalled with blessings and the sign of kingship- a crown of pure gold.
Who asks for long life? He got it; and notice- a promise of everlasting life, if that’s what “even length of days for ever and ever” means.
He’s been made “most blessed.”
Why? “For the king trusts in the Lord” whose mercy cannot be thwarted, whose power cannot be undermined; in whom victory is guaranteed, even though it might seem long in coming.
Hey”!He even gets to “find out” ALL his enemies, those who harbour hate against him. And there is that promise that they- those enemies- shall cease to be, destroyed from the earth.
Why? “For they intended evil against you, they imagined mischief which they cannot perform” (verse 11)
Notice again. Even though they devise, “imagine” mischief, it might just be beyond their power to deliver it!
So why not? Why not seek God’s favour? Why not invest all in trusting God? Check out the guarantee that no insurance coverage can give.
Or maybe, like me you feel that you’re not deserving of being so blessed. But it’s the Giver’s choice.
Why doubt your place when the Master says, “You are mine.”
Why try to win on your own when you are bound to lose?
And why not claim the victory when it’s guaranteed? They only foolproof, i.e, 100 percent guarantee that’s on offer.
I say, let’s join the psalmist and declare, “Be exalted, O Lord, in your strength. We will sing your praise and power.”
Or like the Message declare, “Show your strength, God, so no one can miss it. We are out singing the good news! “
