It’s OK

to 1make a joyful noise to God
to 2 sing the glory of his name.
to give to him glorious praise.
to 3say to God, ‘How awesome are your deeds!

Because guess what? The whole created order, the earth is doing it anyway (Verse 1) and the psalmist repeats it.

4All the earth worships you.
they sing praises to you,
sing praises to your name.

And elsewhere in the Bible there’s a warning that if we don’t do this, the very stones shall do it anyway.

When we participate in praise, we participate in God’s power because praise is powerful. God inhabits our praise and does what we cannot.

Yes, we should give praise; not only because inanimate features will take our place, but because we have reason to praise God. As put in verse 9, we have been kept in the land of the living.

Some persons are grief stricken and utterly alarmed by situations in which others have been killed unjustly. They ponder that those victims should have remained in the land of the living. Their observations and their own encounters with injustice and oppression might fuel temptation to believe that God is not.

Not true; my God, did marvels like you and I happen just so?

No. I believe that even the troubles we navigate, as in verses 9 through 12, tell God’s story. They rehearse God’s actions on behalf of humankind.

So, it is wise to note that iniquity, indwelling evil exists and that is something to be dealt with. It’s tempting to harbour ill will and to seek unfair advantage of others when we believe that there is no God. Sometimes the actions of evil people who seem to have their way may tempt others to believe that lie. They wonder why God doesn’t act quickly and decisively in certain obviously unjust situations.

But do you know the saying that every dog has its day? Eve the seemingly victorious are losing, only they do not yet know it.

Every dog has u-its day and the day will come when human dogs will have their blood licked by animal dogs just as for King Ahab in 1 Kings 22.

Let’s hang up on evil doing and not let it catch up with us. Instead praise the Lord who does not withhold steadfast love from us and offers access to God’s own power to transform evil into good.

Blessed be God forever.
