seven hundred suns have risen

in paradise of mourners

took Israeli blood away
to stain writing on walls of kibbutz dreams
in neighbours south
where grief displaced harmony
preying for war machinery
to exterminate killers who lived
to bear bad fruit
in victimized
as powerful weapons rob off
sense of personhood
bomb all dreams of livelihood.
Who should have known
more innocent would suffer
loss of life, limb,
home and identity
languishing perilously
in terror
on both sides of border
fear of the other.
Only family love knows
Tit for tat
knows not to trust
insecurity of promised gratuity.

Hamas cannot die
short of eternal security
