Praising God is good for me, good for you. It even makes us good.
Whether we skilfully play the instrument or make the sound with our voice, that music merges with the harmony of God’s word. That’s what I’m hearing the psalmist say in verse 1-3. So, my singing and praising connect me to source as I do faithful work to the One who created everything and can even 7 collect the oceans and seas in a bottle too big or small for the universe to contain!
And we humans simply have trouble getting the point that our foolish thoughts are doomed to fail since 10 The Lord brings the counsel of the nations to nothing, he frustrates the plans of the peoples.
That is, of course true, in so far as those plans do not align with God’s; otherwise, we may know the good fortune as those 12 “whose God is the Lord”
16-17 If the military might of great armies don’t cut it, the strength of the warrior doesn’t do it, and the war horse cannot win, why do we still fight?
Let us trust the formula that says, “wait in the Lord,” not as if it’s an abracadabra magical formula, but rather as a way of life that trusts the One who 13 “sees all humankind” 15 “observes all their deeds” and still, in love, desires to give us the best of all.
20 My soul waits on the Lord who is my help and shield.
