According to the wise psalmist, the fool chooses to believe that God does not exist. And this gives licence for all sorts of stupidity and corruption.

Since there is no righteous God to whom an account must be given, then one can get away with wickedness of all proportions.

But I still cannot get it, why this wise writer, who knows that “God is with the company of the righteous” (verse 5) still answers his query about God looking down on humankind searching for the wise, i.e., those who trust that there is a God, with the answer “ They have all gone astray, they are all alike perverse, there is no one who does good, not one.”(verse 3).

Of course, I get it. We have all sinned and fallen short of God’s glory. This is an irrefutable fact. But was his question not about the fools, i.e., the ones who say that God isn’t real?

Then he must have known, as he insists in the sixth verse, that God remains the refuge of the poor.

Maybe he was making a liaison between the powerful rich and those who say there is no God. OK. Jesus did make the strong point about how riches can be a deterrent to one’s wholeheartedly serving God. No one can devotedly serve God and mammon. But consider how many rich persons have chosen to be generous with their riches on the one hand, and on the other, the myriads of poor folk who have let Satan align them on his (or her ) playing field!

Let none of us be foolish- rich or poor.

Wherever heaven happens to be, the Righteous Ruler knows it all, even though some in their limited wisdom choose to use their God-given brains to think otherwise. Whatever goes on, the All Knowing is aware of the goings-on in all their detail – the good, the bad, and the ugly. Whichever cries are uttered- the anguish of the pitiful oppressed, or the victory cry of the cruel conqueror- these are heard by the One whose ears are ever open to these pleas and shouts. Wherever scenes of disproportion occur- the wounded innocent slain or the reckless avenger, the All-Seeing Eyes behold.

Only the sacrificial gift of Jesus will make up for our Many Mighty Mistakes of thinking that we can get away with murder. Only the fool says in her heart there is no God.
